2012 at a Glance

As 2012 winds to an end we look back and see what we have accomplished this year. Just let me say it has been an amazing year. We would like to thank our current customers, new customers, and our employees without you this would not have been possible.

Our local produce is done for the season but with your support we were able to sell 1.1 million dollars. Thank you for buying local while we had the chance and supporting our local farms. A big thank you to all of our local farms such as:
§                     Holthouse farms
§                     Zeller’s Farm
§                     Walcher’s Farm
§                     KJ Greens
§                     Bauman Orchards
§                     Dawson’s Orchard
§                     Great Lakes Growers
§                     Greenline.
We look forward to working with them again in 2013. With their help we will continue to bring you the freshest produce possible.

We were able to attend and tape a few chef’s demonstrations this year. Thank you for allowing us to video tape these and put them on our website. If you go to our website you will see videos from Chef James from St. Edward’s and Chef Mark from The Culinary Arts Center.

Thank you for allowing us to take part in the events and food shows this year. A few that we attended are:
§                     Slippery Rock University
§                     University of Akron Robertson Hall
§                     Lake Erie College Oktoberfest
§                     Taste of Kent State University
§                     Greater Cleveland Managers Association
§                     Brio/Bravo Vendors Show

Another great thing that happened this year is that we are now carrying Mackenzie Creamery Goat Cheese out of Hiram, Ohio. We have been stocking the 2# container of Plain but we are able to order any of the many flavors that they offer.

Last but not least, we received the Avendra Award for “A Decade of Service” and an ACF Akron & Canton Cooks & Chefs Association Silver Sponsor Award. We would not have been able to accomplish all this without our outstanding customers and employees. Thank you for the time and dedication to our company. We look forward to working with you all and seeing what we can accomplish in 2013.

Happy New Years!

Welcome to the Holiday Season

As we approach the holiday season there are a few changes happening at Sirna & Sons Produce.

Most of our local produce is done with until next year. We now have poinsettias and pine roping available by pre- order. And though the stone fruit season has come to an end we now have Spanish Clementines in stock.

We are also very pleased to announce the arrival of our 2 new Sales Representatives Dean Marsico and Adam Breakiron.

Adam has been in the restaurant business his whole life, in which he worked at his family’s Sports Bar and Grill. He was also a corporate trainer for Don Pablos and then went on to designing and building sports bars on the Ohio State Campus.

Dean owned his own Jimmy John’s franchise. He is married with 2 children and is active in coaching local sports.

With the help of all our Sales Representatives we look forward to helping you with all of your produce needs.

Welcome to the Fruit Loop!

What I would like to do with this blog is keep you, the customers, employees, and general public up to date with everything that is going on with Sirna & Sons Produce. From events and conferences that our company may attend, to new products, products we no longer carry, new and different recipes using products that we sell.

With the change of the season you will be seeing our fall line of local products. These products will include candy and caramel apples, pumpkins, gourds, apple cider and many more. Our list of fall items is currently available and you can call your sales representative or customer service to receive your copy.

Along with the fall line we are still selling a lot of local produce from Ohio and Pennsylvania. A complete list of these items is also available by calling customer service but some of the products that are still available are:

            Zucchini                      Peppers                      Herbs

            Corn                            Yellow Squash           Cucumbers

            Lettuces                      Tomatoes                   Radishes

Some of these local items may not be around much longer but there are some items that we carry year round. The award winning Mackenzie Creamery Goat Cheese is produced in Hiram, Ohio and available in many delicious flavors. You will also find in stock Amish granola and locally produced yogurt. Wheatgrass, honey and maple syrup complete our list of local items but if you have a special request we can always try to locate it for you.
